Actions : Anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, cholagogue,

Constituents : Steroidal saponins, phytosterols, alkaloids, tannin, starch

Indications : Used to make the original contraceptive pills before synthetic hormone production. Now use for intestinal colic, irritable bowel, diverticulosis; menstrual, uterine, ovarian and labor pain; combine with willow bark for arthritic and rheumatic pain; included in remedies for menopausal changes.
