Actions : Nervine tonic, sedative, anti-spasmodic

Constituents : Flavonoid glycoside, volatile oil, bitter, minerals

Indications : Virginia skullcap was used by Native Americans for rabies and menstrual problems long before its adoption by European herbalists. It relaxes states of nervous tension while renewing and revivifying the central nervous system; specific for seizure, hysterical states, epilepsy, exhaustion and depression; insomnia; premenstrual tension.

Folk Names : Greater skullcap, Helmet Flower, Hoodwort, Madweed

Uses : Used for relaxation and peace; women wore to protect her husband against the charms of other women.
