Actions : Bitter tonic, uterine stimulant, nervine tonic, emmenagogue, anti-rheumatic

Constituents : Volatile oil, bitter principle, tannin, resin, inulin, flavonoids, silica

Indications : The Anglo Saxons listed Mugwort as one of the “nine sacred herbs” given to the world by the god Woden. Used wherever a digestive stimulant is needed; menopausal changes, menses pain, aids normal flow in scanty or prolonged menses  bleeding; its mildly nervine action aids in depression and easing tension.

Folk Names : Artemis Herb, Artemisia, Felon Herb, Muggons, Naughty Man, Old Man, Sailor’s Tobacco

Uses : Used to increase strength; sachets used to produce prophetic dreams and aid in astral projection; burned before divination or scrying; the infusion used to “wash” crystal balls and magic mirrors to increase psychic powers; worn or carried for protection, to increase lust and fertility, to prevent backache.
