Constituents : Volatile oil, mucilage, glucokinins, germanium, enzymes, B vitamins, minerals, flavonoids

Indications : Among the few herbs that have universal usage and recognition; its daily usage aids and supports the body in ways no other does. It is one of the most effective anti-microbial plants available and has been prized for at least 5000 years. Its strong odor is largely due to sulphur-containing compounds that account for most of its medicinal properties; deodorized preparations are significantly less effective. Use for infections of the lungs such as chronic bronchitis, respiratory catarrh, recurrent colds and influenza, whooping cough  and bronchitis asthma; rub a fresh clove on acne or mash and use on warts and planters warts or to draw corns; add the cloves regularly to the diet to reduce high cholesterol levels, to improve the quality of the cardiovascular system and to help lower blood sugar levels; eat fresh cloves daily in acute conditions of severe digestive disorders such as gastroenteritis, dysentery, worms and infections; drink the juice for digestive disorders and infections or to combat atherosclerosis; steep 3-4 cloves in water or milk overnight and drink the next day for intestinal parasites; take capsules daily to promote all round body health and protection.

Uses : Was worn against the plague, carried by sailors and soldiers for protection; placed in the home to guard against evil and theft; worn against bad weather.

!! Cautions : Very heating and can irritate the stomach. While culinary quantities are generally safe, do not take therapeutic doses during pregnancy and lactation as it can cause digestive problems and babies may dislike the taste in the milk.
