Actions : Astringent, lowers blood sugar levels, tonic, antiseptic, prevents vomiting, urinary antiseptic

Constituents : Tannins, sugars, fruit acids, glucoquinone, glycosides

Indications : Berries – eat a large bowl of whole fresh berries for constipation (add sugar and milk if preferred); take the unsweetened juice in 10ml doses for diarrhea; take one glass daily of the decoction for chronic diarrhea; use the diluted juice as a mouthwash for ulcers and gum inflammations; dilute the juice with an equal amount of witch hazel to make a cooling lotion for sunburn and skin inflammations. Leaves – take the infusion as an adjunct to dietary controls in late-onset, non-insulin dependent diabetes; use as a mouthwash/gargle for ulcers and throat inflammations.

!! Caution : The leaves lower blood sugar levels, so insulin dependent diabetics should not take them in infusions without professional guidance.
